Founded in 1896 with the merger of two coal and lumber companies, Berks Products began as Fehr & O’Rourke in the city of Reading, Pennsylvania. In 1904 the partners established offices at Nicolls and Spring Streets which housed various operations, stables, and a black smith. Throughout the following three decades the organization grew delivering coal in horse drawn wagons and expanding into the general hauling and contracting businesses. In 1933 Berks Products was incorporated and maintained its headquarters at the Spring Street location until 2006.
In 2016 the family-owned company elected to discontinue business operations in the many markets that they had served since the late 1800’s. Over the years, Berks Products provided a wide range of materials and services including heating and cooling systems, ready-mix concrete and paving, crushed stone and masonry supplies, as well as building materials, millwork and engineered roof trusses.
In June of 2017, A.D. Moyer Lumber purchased the Building Materials and Millwork divisions of Berks Products, opening A.D. Moyer Lumber and A.D. Moyer Millwork in Kutztown, PA. A new A.D. Moyer website was launched to include all locations, including the recently re-branded Bethlehem location, and the previous berksproducts.com links for these divisions were redirected to admoyer.com.
