Pottstown School Website Nationally Honored

The Pottstown School district’s official web-site, sponsored by A.D. Moyer Lumber & Hardware, can serve as a true model for other schools in the area. In only its second year of operation, the site has already received national notoriety.

"Our web-site is designed totally by students" explained William Ziegler, Assistant Principal at Pottstown Senior High, "and will be honored by placement on USA TODAY’s national education site." The students produced a section on their site entitled "PHS Extra" which contains a plethora of information on how to utilize the USA TODAY publication in the classroom according to Ziegler.

In addition, Penn State University issued commendations to the students for their work. "The Career Choice section of the site…was commended for its’ focus on guiding students to various careers" said Ziegler. "Career Choice has brought numerous hits to our site and we anticipate this section providing career counseling for students." The Pottstown High School site will be one of only four schools in a nationwide project to serve as the communication hub as they build a USA TODAY class beginning in September.

The web-site, www.pottstownschools.com, is hosted by Media Fusion Technologies of Boyertown and fully funded by A.D. Moyer Lumber & Hardware. "We take great pride in being able to add such a terrific educational project to our list of sponsorships." said A.D. Moyer's Director of Marketing, Ron Schock. "Technology is growing faster than ever before and we understand how important it is to make sure that our students are getting the best education in this area as is possible. I strongly encourage other school districts in the area to take a look at what the Pottstown students have accomplished in a short time and use this as a guideline for their own programs." he added.

Darrell Kean, president of Media Fusion Technologies who also hosts the official web-site for the Boyertown school district, initiated both projects by contacting the schools and locating sponsors for both. "The ability to create the web site has given students in the school district the chance to learn and discover the pride associated with creating something for which they can be proud." said Kean.

A.D. Moyer Lumber, celebrating their 60th year in business, has been actively involved in supporting student and community projects including: the American Legion baseball teams, Pottstown Little League, Boy and Girl Scout organizations, multiple school districts and youth organizations, and the Berks Career and Technology center. Other organizations include, Ambucs, Kiwanis, The American Cancer Society, YMCA, Pottstown Police, Pottstown Memorial Medical Center, and numerous fire companies.
