SIX EMPLOYEES HONORED AT A.D. MOYER

Pottstown, PA – Six employes of A.D. Moyer Lumber & Hardware Inc. recently were recognized for their many years of service to the company.

Owners Scott and Terry Moyer presented gifts and accolades to Rick Youse – Operations Co-manager in Pottstown, Brian Schlegel - Operations Manger in Gilbertsville, Ren Jenkins – Company Credit Manager, Jack Peterman - Yard Foreman in Pottstown, Laverne Henry – Sales in Gilbertsville, and Arlene Scharneck – Cashier in Pottstown.

In a year that A.D. Moyer is celebrating its 60th Anniversary and it’s best sales year ever, it’s not unusual that five of those employees have marked a quarter century of service, Scott and Terry Moyer said.

Jenkins is the only one of the five who has served under the same title for his entire tenure. As Credit Manager he has played a crucial role in the continued success of A.D. Moyer managing the company’s hundreds of builder and retail credit accounts.

Youse, Schlegel, Peterman and Henry have held numerous titles over their 25 years in an industry that requires such flexibility. Not only have they bounced between the yard/delivery, sales, and hardware departments, they have also moved between A.D. Moyer’s three locations as the business has evolved greatly over the years.

Scharneck was recognized for her retirement from A.D. Moyer where she has served as cashier for the past 17 years. She, too, has seen A.D. Moyer survive many economic rises and falls including the openings and subsequent closings of Grossman’s and Rickel’s Home Centers in Pottstown.

Scott and Terry Moyer strongly expressed the value of the flexibility and loyalty that all six have continuously exhibited in the family owned company, crediting the employee’s tenacity and leadership for the growth of the company over the years.

“There’s no doubt in my mind that the success of A.D. Moyer is due to the quality of people that we have working here,” said Scott. “ I consider them second to none.

The late Amandus D. Moyer founded A.D. Moyer Lumber & Hardware in Gilbertsville in 1939 selling used lumber from the Sanatoga Roller coaster. A.D. Moyer currently employees over 110 full and part-time employees in it’s Gilbertsville, Pottstown, and Douglassville locations.
